Opening for Kate Taylor at the Regent!

BIG NEWS! I am thrilled to be supporting none other than Sister Kate Taylor this November at the beautiful Regent Theater in Arlington, MA! Kate Taylor’s “Sister Kate Revisited” tour resurrects the singer/songwriter’s debut album, released back in 1971. Sharing a velvet voice and penchant for folk music with her brothers James and Livingston, Sister Kate is back on the scene after a long hiatus, and is not to be missed.

Bernardo and I are honored to kick off the concert, on November 8th, with an acoustic opening set of my songs. Join us for a night of original music by two songstresses in one of the Boston area’s premier theaters! Click here for tickets and more info.

I am reeeeeeallly looking forward to this show… Berna and I will be opening for none other than Will Dailey at the Riverwalk Music Cafe in Nashua, NH on Sunday, October 1!

If you haven’t heard of Will, you’re missing out! An incredible singer/songwriter/performer who’s toured internationally to wide acclaim, his sound and songs are not to be missed. A little bit about him:

Will Dailey is an acclaimed independent recording and performing artist. His sound has been described as having a rich vintage vibe, while having a firm appreciation of AM rock, pop and big hooks – leading famed rock journalist Dan Aquilante to call him “the real deal”. Dailey’s latest album, National Throat, has been met with stellar reviews, over 8 million spins on Spotify, top 20 on Billboard Heat Seeker chart and won Album of the Year in the Boston Music Awards, New England Music Awards and Improper Bostonian Magazine.

New Song! “Blessed Burden”

international-day-of-peace-logo

Hello all, in honor of the International Day of Peace on September 21, I am very excited to share a brand new song with you along that theme.

I wrote this song in a moment of helplessness — a feeling that is becoming all too familiar to many of us, unfortunately — when news of bombs and shipwrecks and shootings is constant and overwhelming. I got caught on the idea of peace as a burden that must be fought for, earned, and shared among the many, as opposed to a blessing bestowed upon and enjoyed by the few (hardly a new idea, I know, but I couldn’t stop thinking about it). But true peace is not easy, and neither is true love — and in this way, these challenges are also our sweetest blessings, both to give and to receive. I’ll leave it at that, and let the song say the rest. Click here to watch the video on YouTube if the below embedded preview isn’t working.

Lyrics

Verse:

Across wild seas and war torn lands

In droves they flee, screaming and wringing their hands

One fence, one borderline previously unseen

Is now a trench sharply defined, defended by artillery

Chorus:

We can spare it – a little love

We can share it – I know there’s more than enough

Verse:

I am sitting here in the warm cocoon of home

I’ve never known such fear, never was reduced to skin and bones

Who decided that this life

Was not for everyone, that this dream was divided?

Chorus/Bridge:

We can bear it – a little peace

We can bear it – to give love, give love is

Freefall – it’s scary

Trust entire

It’s a blessed burden

To light and tend this fire

Verse:

People, rise – and hold each other tight and near

Love defies the dark, the anger, greed, and fear

We’re just one little planet in a sea of stars

And whether we are gonna make it is a question of heart

Chorus:

We can bear it – a little peace

We can bear it – ’cause it’s love will set us free…

Live in Italia!

Back in Italy! I’m excited to return to the continent and kick things off with a concert at Ex Cinema Aurora, an independent folk venue in Livorno, Italy. As its name indicates, this abandoned cinema has been recently converted to a funky concert space. Relics of old Hollywood, including enormous old cameras, stage lights, and film reels dot the walls. And the acoustics are incredible!

I’ll be joined by my husband, producer, and killer guitarist/multi-instrumentalist Bernardo Baglioni as we perform an intimate, all-original set. We are looking forward to debuting some brand new music — some of which I *just* finished on the plane on my way to Europe! — that will make its way onto my 2016 album, Tide & Stars. Free entry. Spero di vedervi, amici italiani – mi mancate, e non vedo l’ora di condividere qualche pezzo nuovo con voi!
